Winning Player in Red!
The Final of this year's Presidents Singles saw Phil Owens taking on John Kane and this took place on Tuesday 30th August in cold and but dry conditions.

The first end went to John with a single shot. A double saw Phil get of the mark at the next to take a slight lead. The following eight ends however were totally one sided as John, attempting to win the trophy for the first time, took eleven shots over eight ends to lead by 12 v 2 after ten ends.

Phil then staged a fightback and at the fifteenth had reduced John's lead to just four shots with the score now 12 v 8.

John then gained a single at the next only to see Phil once again fight hard for shots and at the eighteenth end there was only two shots in it at 13 v 11 in John's favour.

The 3rd Ranked Singles Player* at the club then showed just why he is one of the strongest players when he once again took a strangle-hold of the game and stormed to within just one shot of glory at 20 v 11 after twenty two ends.

Phil fought on bravely and stalled John's hopes with a double at the next but John's confidence finally took him over the winning post in the next end to win by 21 v 13 after twenty four ends.
