The 2011 Gourock Park Singles Champion is Ian Brown after a convincing victory over the reigning Greenock & District Champion, Iain MacSwan.

The Final was played on the evening of Friday 29th August in front of a smaller than normal crowd, probably due to the poor weather which greeted the players.

It had been twenty one years since Ian Brown (Bruno) claimed his first Club Champion title and he started his game in a fashion which showed he did not want to wait any more for title number two. With his opponent struggling to guage the speed of the green, he raced into an 11 v 0 lead after just seven ends played.

A slight delay at the next, due to a long measure being required after the dislodging of bowls and jack, lead to Iain McSwan finally getting on the scorecard.

Iain then staged a mini comeback as after twelve ends had increased his score to 7, while at the same time ensuring Bruno only scored a single shot.

So with the score now 12 v 7 to Bruno it was now a much closer game, well on paper anyway. If the next end went Mr MacSwan's way, then Bruno would have really began to feel under pressure, but it was not to be. End after end Ian Brown got the upper hand with the big shots when it mattered, and it took him just another seven ends to seal victory and win by 21 v 7
