The Gourock Park World Rankings list is compiled each year once the two 'major singles' competitions have been completed. Points are awarded as follow-

Lose in Prelim or First Round 5pt's or did not play 5pts
Lose in Second Round 10pt's
Lose in Quarter-Final 20pt's
Lose in Semi-Final 30pt's
Lose in Final 40pt's
Winner 50pt's

The list gives an indication of which players at Park are most successful over a five year period in 'Singles' games and serves no purpose, other than for purposes of creating a  talking point amongst the members. New Members too may of course see themselves better than people on the list, but previous form at other clubs means nothing as far as this list is concerned.

The years that this list was made up from are 2006, 07, 08, 09 & 10, so anything a player did previous to these years, again does not effect the compiling of this list.

Please note even though I have painstakingly checked and double checked the list, mistakes happen! So if I have missed you out or you think your score is wrong, feel free to go through the years on the site, or ask me to check it for you.

Since this list was published I have had a few complaints regarding my scoring system! In particular to why a player or players who have 'just joined' can have more points than someone who has been here for longer?  The answer to this is simple!  The chart is made up from figures over a five year period and the newbie who has made the list has in one year got further in the two singles events than those below them have in five!!

Example
David Quigley joined 2010. His five year cycle is made up as follows. years 2006/07/08 & 09 he is awarded 5pts for each comp per year 4 x 2 comps per year equals 40 ranking points. Then in the current year he reached two quarter-finals giving him another 40pts for a total of 80! Compare this with the record of John Lamb. has played in every year of the five, but has never gotten any further than the second round!

When it comes to making up the 2011 list- the points gained in 2006 will be lost from all players points and replaced by whatever they record in 2011.

Example
Jim McCready got 55 pts in 2006 so unless he can match this in 2011, his total of 220 will drop!!!
